The mission of the New Milford Health Department is to prevent disease, maintain a healthy environment and promote community health for the citizens of the Town of New Milford. We are working to meet this goal by providing a wide range of programs and services including enforcement of the Connecticut Public Health Code and local ordinances. We are your local health department and are available to help serve your public health needs. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
The Department of Health is responsible for many aspects for protecting the health of the public including some of the following.
³ Organizing emergency response with other town agencies and volunteers.
³ Reviewing and approving septic and well installation and repairs.
³ Reviewing and approving improvements and additions that may impact the septic and/or well.
³ Inspecting restaurants.
³ Educating the public and providing health clinics.
³ Sponsoring the Household Hazardous Waste Day.
³ Testing of possible rabid animals.
³ Addressing complaints from residents.
