Purpose of the Assessor's Office: Created by the Connecticut General Statutes, the Assessor's job is to make sure that taxes are levied in accordance with the provisions of the CGS. The office places values on all taxable property at a uniform rate. It processes the annual forms filed by owners of taxable property. It certifies tax exemptions.
