The following is a summary of recent and ongoing Youth Agency Substance Abuse Prevention Project activities.

1. April 8th & 9th each student at the high school will be visited by a Health Department Teacher and Resource Officer in an effort to bring the school population up to date with the present opiate crisis.  A pre-approved curriculum will be implemented and followed up later in the spring.

2. April 23rd the school will be sponsoring an all school assembly featuring Jeffery Veatch who will give a powerful presentation on the dangers of drug use and its impact on the home.  The presentation will also be given at 7 pm that evening for parents.

3. May 13th in conjunction with the Governor’s Prevention Partnership, the Prevention council will be sponsoring “Parents …You Matter”, a training workshop that introduces parents to helpful tools and resources to combat drug and alcohol abuse.

4. The first poster in our presentation series will be disbursed to Physicians, Dentists and Pharmacy’s across the area.

5. Due to the success of our last showing of Anonymous People, the Agency plans, later this spring, to again offer an evening presentation at The Maxx.
