STORM RELATED INFORMATION

Due to the debris caused by the recent storm, the open burn permit fee has been waived until Labor Day.  You still need to obtain a permit through the Fire Marshal's office, but the fee has been waived.  Click HERE for permit.

If your house is unlivable as a result of the storm, please contact the Mayor's Office at 860-355-6010 so we can send someone out to your home to document the damage.

New Milford Food Bank

New Milford Social Services hosts a weekly food bank program which distributes non-perishables, bakery products and seasonal produce to income-eligible New Milford residents.

Pre-registration, proof of household income and New Milford residency, are required.

Food Bank hours are Thursdays only from 9 a.m. until 4p.m. at the Social Services office.
Registrants may come once a week.

Please bring your own bag(s) for your groceries, bakery & produce.

The New Milford United Methodist Church at 68 Danbury Road (on Rt. 7 opposite John Pettibone School) also hosts a food bank (Our Daily Bread Food Pantry) for residents who prefer an evening hour pickup between 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. on Thursdays.

On occasion, Social Service's clients may request an emergency Food Bank voucher to a local grocery store.

The Food Bank relies solely on donations of food and funds.  Donations are accepted at our office, Monday through Thursday, 8:30a.m.-4p.m. and Friday, 8:30a.m.-2p.m. "This institution is an equal opportunity provider"

Donation List

" Paper Bag Challenge"  :  Sometimes families request items of which we just don't have enough.  We have listed 11 items on a flyer and are offering a challenge to fill one bag with at least 5 of these items.  Will you take the challenge?

ATTENTION LOCAL BACKYARD GARDENERS! If you find your garden's bounty is a bit too much for your family's needs and you don't want to see it go to waste, think of us!  The New Milford Food Bank has registered with the AmpleHarvest.org Campaign (www.AmpleHarvest.org) - a nationwide program to enable local backyard gardeners to find a local food pantry to share their excess vegetables and fruits.  Donations can be brought directly to the Food Bank on Thursday mornings, for immediate distribution.
