Passport Application Acceptance Office

Passport forms and instructions are available from the Mayor's Office or from the brochure rack on the main floor of Town Hall during normal business hours or on the internet at travel.state.gov . The internet site will also provide: travel advisories, birth certificate information, country entrance requirements and the nearest passport acceptance facility based on zip code.


HOURS: Monday-Friday, 9 :00 am to 4:00 pm. (Closed for lunch from 12:00pm - 2:00pm)  Applications are accepted by appointment only. For appointments please call 860-355-6010. If TRAVEL DATE is within 14 days or less, you must contact the National Passport Information Center at 1-877-487-2778 for an appointment.

Processing: Normal processing by the passport agency can take up to 6 weeks. For an additional $60.00 fee per passport, the passport agency will expedite processing. Expedited requests will be processed in 3 working days from receipt at the passport agency. All documents must be original or certified copies, may not be laminated and must be submitted to the passport agency with the application.

If you desire SPECIAL POSTAGE SERVICE (overnight, special delivery, etc.), you must pay for the additional mailing costs.

PAYMENT: State and Town fees must be made by two separate payments. *All fees must be by check or money order only.

BY LAW – PASSPORTS PROCESSING AND EXECUTION FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

BASIC INFORMATION REQUIRED – All documents must be original or certified copies, may not be laminated and must be submitted to the passport agency with the application. (For additional requirements, please refer to the application or travel.state.gov )
  1. Completed Passport Application - DO NOT SIGN (Must be signed in the presence of the passport agent)
  2. Proof of US Citizenship
  3. Proof of Identity and one photo copy of said proof (per application) 
  4. ONE recent 2” x 2” color photographs with a white or cream background (updated 3/14/2011).
  5. Fees, 2 checks or money orders. (please refer to payment information above)
