The Municipal Agent for the Elderly program was established in 1972 by the Connecticut State Legislature in order to assure that seniors in each town have an officially appointed representative who is responsible for providing them with information and assistance on services and benefits.
The Municipal Agent provides information, referrals and support in seeking resources to assist seniors and their families seeking a variety of services including but not limited to:

- Housing Options
- State Subsidized Housing Lists
- Energy Assistance
- Renter & Tax Rebates
- Medicaid
- Medicare and Medigap Insurance Counseling
- Long-term Care Planning
- Nutrition Sites and Resources
- Social Security Issues
- Protective Services
- Home Health Aid Support
- Light Budgeting
- Low-Interest Grants or Loans for Home Repairs
- Title 5 Senior Employment Options
- Medicare Part D (Prescription Coverage)
