New Milford Food Bank

New Milford Social Services hosts a weekly food program for local residents experiencing food insecurity. Participants choose fresh, frozen, and nutritious food items as well as shelf-stable canned and boxed goods. We follow SWAP nutritional guidelines.  Based on donations, we also have gluten-free, low sugar/low sodium, and organic items.  The New Milford Food Bank also offers emergency food vouchers to Social Service households. Please contact our office for more details.

Food Bank distribution is every Thursday, 9:00 a.m.  ~ 4:00 p.m. at New Milford Social Services, 2 Pickett District Road or by special arrangement. If you are unable to make it on Thursdays due to work or special circumstances, please contact our Program Coord., Wanda Fyler @ 860-355-6079 to schedule another time or set up a specific arrangement.

Sign up through our office. Please provide proof of address and ID. Proof of income is not necessarily required but recommended so we can assist you with other emergency assistance programs that do require income documentation.

 Please bring reusable bags for your groceries.

=============================================

The Food Bank relies solely on donations of food and funds.  Donations are accepted at our office, Monday through Thursday, 8:30a.m.-4p.m. and Friday, 8:30a.m.-2p.m.  We have an outdoor tent reserved to receive food donations or bring them into our office. Please contact us ahead of time regarding perishable donations and please, no donations over the weekend.  If your group, business, or organization is looking to run a food drive, call our office for a list of needed donations and to set up a delivery time. Thank you for supporting the New Milford Food Bank!

" Paper Bag Challenge"  :  Sometimes families request items of which we just don't have enough.  We have listed 11 items on a flyer and are offering a challenge to fill one bag with at least 5 of these items.  Will you take the challenge?

 ATTENTION LOCAL BACKYARD GARDENERS! If you find your garden's bounty is a bit too much for your family's needs and you don't want to see it go to waste, think of us!  The New Milford Food Bank has registered with the AmpleHarvest.org Campaign (www.AmpleHarvest.org) - a nationwide program to enable local backyard gardeners to find a local food pantry to share their excess vegetables and fruits.  Donations can be brought directly to the Food Bank on Thursday mornings, for immediate distribution.
